Membership
First Dog has over 100 members and new members are always welcomed.
We do recommend that you take at least one class with us to determine if we meet your needs.
Why become a member?
Members at First Dog who qualify for benefits are entitled to discounts on classes, can use the training room (at no charge) when classes are not in session, and join our members only Facebook group.
We hold monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month (except July and August) at 8:15 pm in our facility. We often have guest speakers that address a variety of animal and obedience related topics. This is also an opportunity to meet and socialize with other members.
Additionally, plaques and special awards are awarded to our members who have earned titles at our annual Holiday dinner.
Requirements
In order to become a member you must be proposed by 2 current members (students or instructors) and need to fill out and send our new membership application. (Download New Membership Application).
Our annual dues are $25.
In order to take advantage of our benefits, we require that you:
- take at least one class a year
- attend a minimum of 4 monthly meetings
- accumulate 10 points of volunteer work in the prior year. We host a multitude of events, such as AKC Obedience trials, AKC Rally trials, AKC Scent Work trials, Match shows and CGC/Temperament/Tricks/Fetch tests where you can earn volunteer points. All events are run by our members and everyone is encouraged to volunteer their time.
